The Killers finished up the Lollapalooza festivities on August 9th, capping off a sold-out festival that featured Depeche Mode, Tool, Kings of Leon, Yeah Yeahs, Jane’s Addiction and many others.
The glam-pop rockers, who are known for their interesting covers (“Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” and “Romeo and Juliet”), entertained the fans with their major hits like “Mr. Brightside” and “All These Things That I’ve Done,” as well as a cover of Joy Division and “Hotel California” by the Eagles, which is featured on the upcoming Rhythms Del Mundo album.
They ended the show with a bang, including pyrotechnics, according to tweets from Lollapalooza concert goers.

The Killers are devoting themselves to the music festival scene this summer rather than a full-fledged tour. That will come later this fall, with North American dates slated starting in September 2009.
Until then, the Killers will be stocking up on frequent flyer miles by making the rounds of several European festivals, which will take them through Germany, Slovenia, Italy, Norway, Greece, the UK, Belgium, Sweden, and more. They will end the fest romp with the “Fuji Rock Festival” in Japan, before heading from there to southern Indiana. Talk about same planet, different worlds!
Here in the States, the Killers have already headlined one night at Coachella, and will also appear at Lollapalooza in Chicago’s Grant Park come August.

The Killers, originally from Las Vegas, were formed in 2002. The members are Brandon Flowers (vocals), Dave Keuning (guitar), Mark Stoermer (base guitar), and Ronnie Vannucci Jr (percussion).
This indie/alternative rock band released their first album, Hot Fuss in 2004, and took the world by surprise with their blend of 1980’s, 1990’s, and modern synthetic sound.
Their second album, Sam’s Town, was released in 2006, and was equally as good. They are currently working on their third studio album, with no release date set at this time.
