NEWS
After the band made a formal statement earlier this year, that following an aggressive six year touring schedule, The Killers will be taking a break, it was only a matter of time before Brandon Flowers confirmed his solo project.
That’s right Killers fans, Brandon’s debut solo album, “Flamingo,” is coming soon! Specific details regarding the record have been limited and the release date is still to come. If you would like a sneak peak, head on over to brandonflowersmusic.com to be welcomed by “spacey synths and sprightly beeps.” The audio loop reflects something similar to a Scissor Sisters tune.
I can’t wait to see what Brandon has in store! Keep checking back for more Killers news.

Though The Killers break continues (see post below), they are coming together to accept an award for their contribution to music.
Their latest achievement comes from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, or ASCAP. The band, whose hits include “Somebody Told Me,” “Mr. Brightside,” and “When You Were Young,” will receive ASCAP’s Vanguard Award for helping shape the future of music.
Patti Smith, who will perform at the event’s 27th annual ceremony, is also scheduled to receive the ASCAP’s Founders Award. At the ceremony, scheduled for April 27 in Hollywood, Calif., other awards will be given for songwriter of the year, song of the year and publisher of the year.
Jack Johnson, Bjork, The Beastie Boys, The Strokes, Modest Mouse, Nine Inch Nails and Beck have previously won the Vanguard Award.

TAKE a break… they are NOT breaking up. So says Killers’ bassist Mark Stoermer.
The Killers have been touring nearly non-stop for six years, and so the consensus has been to pause, just for a while. “Everybody just needs to do their own thing for a while,” so texted Stoermer, after the news broke out.
The band insists they are not calling it quits, so check back for Killers tickets news and updates about future projects by the band, collectively and solo.

The Killers finished up the Lollapalooza festivities on August 9th, capping off a sold-out festival that featured Depeche Mode, Tool, Kings of Leon, Yeah Yeahs, Jane’s Addiction and many others.
The glam-pop rockers, who are known for their interesting covers (“Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” and “Romeo and Juliet”), entertained the fans with their major hits like “Mr. Brightside” and “All These Things That I’ve Done,” as well as a cover of Joy Division and “Hotel California” by the Eagles, which is featured on the upcoming Rhythms Del Mundo album.
They ended the show with a bang, including pyrotechnics, according to tweets from Lollapalooza concert goers.

The Killers are devoting themselves to the music festival scene this summer rather than a full-fledged tour. That will come later this fall, with North American dates slated starting in September 2009.
Until then, the Killers will be stocking up on frequent flyer miles by making the rounds of several European festivals, which will take them through Germany, Slovenia, Italy, Norway, Greece, the UK, Belgium, Sweden, and more. They will end the fest romp with the “Fuji Rock Festival” in Japan, before heading from there to southern Indiana. Talk about same planet, different worlds!
Here in the States, the Killers have already headlined one night at Coachella, and will also appear at Lollapalooza in Chicago’s Grant Park come August.
